Which Type Of Patio Furniture

Your choice in patio furniture depends on a number of factors. An indoor, screened in, or securely covered patio offers choices that an outdoor space does not. Outdoor spaces require durable furniture that can tolerate a variety of weather conditions. Styles, materials, and types of furniture vary, so choosing the pieces that best fit your needs and space can be a challenge.

First, consider how your indoor or outdoor patio space will be used when choosing patio furniture. Is it a space for lounging and relaxing, dining, or for parties? Patio furniture is available in many configurations and types, so you will find sets containing loveseats and chairs, with accent tables, dining sets, perhaps with an umbrella for outdoor use, and bars. Chaise lounges may be a good choice in patio furniture for a more private space, and the traditional porch swing remains a favorite.

Patio furniture is available in a variety of materials. Wood, metal, plastic, and wicker are all common materials for patio furniture. Metal, finished with rust proof paint, is often a good exterior choice. While wood can be somewhat tricky outdoors, well-finished wood is an option for interior or exterior use, as are woods that are naturally water repellent. Plastic is another option for outdoor patio furniture; it is economical, but rarely as high quality or attractive as metal or wood. Teak patio furniture is a fine traditional choice for exterior use. Indoor or well-covered patios are a good choice for wicker or for more heavily upholstered pieces.
